Oodles of handmade details made this casual ceremony and reception one of my favorites this year.
Josie's friend made the altar "arch" of vintage paper flowers and pinwheels as well as the aisle markers. (She could start her own business!)
Josie's bridesmaids each wore a different dress in a color palette of grey, lavender and taupe. We added a pop of color with the bouquets of dusty miller, bright blue delphinium, yellow billy balls, purple gomphrena, dark purple asters and bright blue cornflower.
Ok, this is a cool picture but I don't like the idea of my flowers being thrown around!! :)
Josie's bouquet was similar to the bridesmaids but with some additional flowers - white veronica, lavender scabiosa, and kermit poms.
Lawrence and his boys wore suits with purple ties. His was the classic necktie and the groomsmen wore plaid bow ties. A nod to their connection to Charleston, I used sweet grass roses for their boutonnieres.
Centerpieces were collections of found vases filled with a variety of garden flowers. bloom provided the flowers and Josie's mom and friends put them together.
Catering was provided by Zest. A wonderful local Decatur vendor. And the groom's cake was handmade by a family friend in Tennessee! Gorgeous!
Beautiful wedding shoes. And apparently Josie is a shoe fanatic!
A handmade wishing tree of japanese maple branches...
Sweet little boys...
Congratulations Josie & Lawrence!
And....if you've been following my blog - you'll recognize Emily and Aaron here with her parents as happy guests. Emily and Aaron were married at Piedmont Park back in September on the same day as Music Midtown! It was a challenge but we pulled it off!
Josie caught the toss bouquet at Emily's wedding and Emily and Josie grew up next door to each other here in Decatur. And, another neat thing, one of Josie's groomsmen was my son's middle school social studies teacher! And with Zest doing the catering, it was a great Decatur collaboration.
The awesome photos are by Anna & Spencer.
