Erin and Blake, part 2

Now, for all the hot pink....

I love this image of all the ladies fixing Erin's dress so she can have a perfect portrait on the steps of the Decatur Courthouse. She's a light of calm in a fury of blue.

Bridesmaids bouquets were hot pink roses, hot pink hydrangea, pink ranunculus, pink hypericum berries and gardenia leaves. These were also wrapped with ti leaves and hot pink pins.

Table centerpieces were all hot pink with a ti leaf wrapped around the outside of the vase.

Smaller table centerpieces were round bubble bowls with a ti leaf wrapped on the inside and hot pink flowers on top.

Here you can see all the shades of pink - hydrangeas, berries, roses, carnations, spray roses, etc.

Sweet guest book arrangement.

Two very tall cylinder vase arrangements flanked the vow site. Erin and Blake rented the cylinder vases from me and at the end of the night, they removed the top part and took that home with them. (Well, the wedding coordinator did that actually...)

Rose petals covered the palladian window ledges.

The center window ledge had a shorter version of the cylinder vases. The hot pink flowers really added a pop of color to the all white marble courtroom.
Stay tuned...lots more!

My Big Fat Greek Wedding

Ok, here's a sneak peek at Alexa's wedding in May!

She had nine attendants and the ceremony was held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road. The Cathedral is extraordinarily ornate with beautiful mosaic work.

Centerpieces were two dozen roses en masse in a glass cylinder vase wrapped with ti leaves. Colors were hot pink ("sweet unique" and "orlando"), yellow ("aurora" and "kerio") and orange "milva" roses. The reception was held at the Hellenic Community Center at the Cathedral.

The girls held posies of the hot pink, orange and yellow roses with hosta leaves as a collar as well as wrapping the stems. Their watermelon-colored dresses were gorgeous!

The bridal bouquet consisted of the yellow, orange, and pink roses with yellow cymbidium orchids, pin cushion protea and white mini calla lily accents with a collar of hosta leaves.

Thanks very much to Ezell's Studio for the great shots.

Erin & Blake - part one

Erin and Blake's wedding was this past Sunday at The Old Courthouse on the Square in Decatur.

They are the absolute sweetest couple in the world! I received a phone call from both of them individually on Monday a.m. thanking me for making their wedding so beautiful. And remember, they were married Sunday night. How unbelievably sweet is that? They both have hearts of pure gold. They will have a wonderful life together!

Using their wedding to illustrate, I want to give a sort of "play by play" of how it all comes together here at bloom, so here goes:

Flowers are delivered in cardboard boxes that need to be unpacked. Flowers are sold in bunches of either 5 or 10 stems. Each bunch is generally wrapped in cello to protect the petals. So, it's a lot of unwrapping and cutting of rubberbands. Then each individual stem needs to be recut so they will drink water properly.

Before recutting the stems, any extra uneeded foliage is removed.

The flowers need to be placed in the appropriate size buckets so the flower heads do not become damaged.

Erin and Blake's wedding had over 800 stems! That's a lot of work just to get the flowers ready to use.

Here is my assistant, Stormy, making sure I am doing things correctly.

Erin wanted a little extra "detail" for her centerpieces, so I wrapped ti leaves around the cylinder vase and added a gardenia leaf for pizzaz. This design element was utilized throughout her entire event.

That's it for today...more to come later! I've got 3 weddings this weekend, so I've got to get to work.

Laura and Jack

Laura and Jack tied the knot at the The Solarium in Oakhurst on Saturday. It was a second marriage for both of them and they had a lovely ceremony where they made vows to their children (they have 5 between them). Laura carried a simple pageant-style bouquet of white callas. She elected to make all of her centerpieces herself so on Thursday I provided her with 20 glass vases and 140 stems of multi-colored mini callas. She, and her family, did a great job putting them together! Here are a few photos I took but will definitely post the professional shots soon.

Buffet piece - white calla lilies, white dendrobium orchids, asparagus fern, ti leaves, monstera leaves.

Small buffet piece - pink larkspur, white calla lilies, white dendrobium orchids, lavender parrot tulips and jasmine vine.

Corsages and wristlets.

Flower girl baskets.

Tropical Valentine

Here's a little tropical twist for a Valentine's bouquet. Note the little crystal hearts tucked into the mini pineapples! Other flowers include white dendrobium orchids, pink anthurium and ti leaves.
